By an 8-4 vote, the House Judiciary Committee yesterday passed an assisted suicide bill modeled after Oregon’s. The committee struck several amendments designed to convince members that our law would have better safeguards, as if that were possible anyway.
The bill will come to a vote in the full House on Tuesday. If it passes on first reading, there will be a second and final vote on Wednesday.
Please call your House members at home this weekend, asking them to vote against assisted suicide. If you need talking points, you can find them at http://truedignityvt.org/?p=951.
