That this article is about euthanasia rather than assisted suicide does not makes its insights into the fundamentally different ways in which the proponents and opponents of assisted death view human life any less relevant. What does it mean for the future of our society that life with a mental or physical disability is now considered a life not worthy of living, a life that our society should empower our doctors to help bring to an end? What does it mean for individuals with disabilities to be viewed in this way? Where will we draw the line? Are we as a society committing suicide?
