Here’s a link to the Burlington Free Press News Story: http://www.burlingtonfreepress.com/article/20130201/NEWS03/302010027/Doctor-assisted-suicide-measure-backed-by-Vermont-Senate-committee?odyssey=mod|.
And here’s what the Free Press had to say about the bill, which is still not available for the public to read and which still has no number:
The Health & Welfare Committee made some changes to the bill Friday, including removing a requirement that those using the law receive care from a palliative specialist before ending their lives. Ayer said the bill would require them to talk to their physicians about palliative care, but with few specialists available a requirement would be overly burdensome.
Another change was that the committee said if someone other than the patient participated in the death in an illegal way, a prosecutor may consider charges, instead of must consider charges, as the bill had said.
