The floor debate and the first vote on the assisted suicide bill is scheduled to take place tomorrow, April 30.
There are still two things we can do to stop this dangerous legislation:
- Call the State House at 802-828-2228. Give your name and your town. Say that you want to leave a message for your representative or representatives to vote NO on the House version of S. 77, the assisted suicide bill; give your representatives’ names. Even if you have called before, call the State House tomorrow between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm.
- If you possibly can, go to the State House for the debate and vote. There will be people there with stickers you can wear to show your opposition to assisted suicide.
Now is our very last opportunity. We must not waste it. The other side has many paid lobbyists and has been running tv ads. They will be present in great numbers tomorrow, and their membership is making calls. There were more of them than of us at the public hearings. We cannot let that happen tomorrow.
In 2007, members changed their minds at the very last minute, right before and during the debate. It is not too late!
